There are several directions here. I also recently found a suitable term for it in Halle an der Saale in Germany, where I
was last at a meeting: Neomuralism.
AO: In the meantime, FISART is no longer a festival that takes place in a certain period of time. The artists come to Timisoara
throughout the year and leave their works behind.
SM: That's why we decided, because it was a huge stress to organize everything in a few days. The last time we
had over 70 artists - most of them came from Romania, but also from Germany, Switzerland and France. We do it in
painted, then there is a tender where artists can apply; After the selection, several artists will come over several weeks
the way that happens in London: there is a so-called "street art project" where the city decides on certain walls to be
or months andimplement their project. So we came to an event that no longer deserves the name "Festival". The city
does not notice that there is something going on here. Citizens can only discover the results at the end.
AO: How has society got used to street art in recent years? How do people react when they suddenly notice a huge colorful mural
painting in their everyday life?
SM: I can almost only speak of positive reactions. For example, at Pasmatex, an employee from the factory
came to us with tears in her eyes and told us that she had been working in the factory for 40 years and had never seen
anything so beautiful. People no longer like to see gray in gray or green in green, as is the case with Pasmatex. At the
moment there is the intention of the authorities that only ruins should be painted. In hall z. For example, houses are
being renovated and the scaffolding is being used to create street art. We have noticed that the industrial plants look
really shabby and we concentrated on beautifying them: this is how art developed on the wall at Colterm, Pasmatex
and Aquatim. Currently also painted inside a hostel. We also follow international trends. In Berlin, there is also a street
art museum recently, which was set up with 2.5 million euros. We have set up five such outdoor museums in Timisoara
at no extra cost.
